Act 3

"That he would steal away so guilty- like seeing you coming."  This is from Act 3 in Othello.  This is when Iago tells Othello that Cassio looked guilty when he left.  However, Cassio just left because he did not want any controversy since he already knew that Othello was angry with him.  This further proves the kind of person Iago was.  He is a manipulating liar!  He also makes up a story to Othello about Cassio and Desdemona having an affair.  Iago is very conniving, and he will tell any one anything to cause trouble.  Because of Iago's lies, Othello wants both Cassio and Dedemona dead.  This story is getting more and more dramatic and suspenseful!

Soliloquy/ Act 2

Cassio: (aside) "He takes her by the palm. Ay, well said, whisper! With as little a web as this will I ensnare as great a fly as Cassio. Ay, smile upon her, do, I will gyve thee in thine own courtship. You say true, 'Tis so, indeed."  This is an example of a soliloquy. A soliloquy is when a character is speaking aside during the play by themselves.  This allows the reader to know the thoughts of some of the characters.  This was in Act 2 when Cassio returns, and he grabs Desdemona by the hand.  She was very excited when she realized he was home safely because she was very worried about him being caught in the storm.  Some things were revealed in the Act.  I learned that Cassio cannot really handle drinking.  He tries to stop, but when he starts, he drinks too much.  Also, I learned that Iago does not exactly respect women as Cassio does.  Iago thinks rude and lustful things about women.  Cassio cares for women and wants to care for them.  This was a very interesting Act!

Dialogue/ Diction/ Act 1

Roderigo: "Thou told'st me thou didst hold him in thy hate."  This is an example of the dialogue Shakespeare uses in his writing.  This dialogue can be very hard to understand.  However, if one really focuses they can understand it.  This dialogue is important in this story because it helps to explain the time period it was written, and how the people of that time spoke.  For me, this language is very difficult to understand.  Act 1 is an important introduction to "Othello."  Many characters are introduced such as: Iago, Othello, Roderigo, Brabantino, and Desdemona.  There are many tensions between many people throughout the story, but this makes the story more entertaining and interesting.  There is much drama within this story, and I am excited to continue reading it!
